The Challenge: India’s Diverse Agricultural Landscape
India features highly diverse and complex farming conditions across the nation, ranging from arid plains and dry uplands to fertile river basins, rain-fed farmlands and scattered smallholder plots. Indian farmers confront multiple tough agricultural challenges. Vast regional differences bring variable soil conditions, including hard dry soil, loose sandy land and waterlogged low-lying fields.
Intense seasonal heat, dry windy weather and periodic heavy monsoon rains greatly test the stability and durability of farm machinery. Meanwhile, mixed cropping modes of rice, wheat, cotton, sugarcane and oilseeds, together with fragmented small farmland, make ordinary universal machines difficult to adapt, resulting in low operating efficiency, easy blockage and high farming costs.
